Councillor Warrington Does Not Want Her Gravy Train To Stop

Cllr Warrington said she was unaware that the phone used for the Trigger Me Timbers chat was paid for by the council. She believed the bill was deducted from her councillor allowance, like other councillors at the time. As leader of the council, she was provided with a phone by the council — a privilege other councillors don’t receive.
Cllr Dickinson asked whether she would have known the phone was not being paid for by the council, as there would have been no deduction on her payslip. Brenda replied that she doesn’t check her payslip. Well, I suppose you don’t have to when you own a holiday home in the Lake District and have a collection of sports cars on the drive.
In the report, Brenda forgets that when she was leader of the council she was also appointed to Andy Burnham’s standards panel. She’s so forgetful. Does she remember that she was the leader? I didn’t buy it.
I thought her closing statement lacked contrition. She came across as more bitter about the leaker not receiving the same punishment as her. There was nothing about the young councillors who were led on by them, with their futures ahead of them, who have lost their jobs and reputations. Nothing about her best mate, Gwynne, who has come out of all this rather handsomely — an early retirement, a golden handshake, and no standards report into him
